PlayStation Basement #70 - Superstar Dance Club: #1 Hits!!!

This review was originally published on the  Console Purist  Facebook group on December 28th, 2019. Hello once more, and welcome back to the PlayStation Basement. PlayStation Basement is a weekly review of games for the original PlayStation that are somewhat obscure, unusual, or unknown. Games are rated Good, Bad, or Neutral to emphasis the written review. Now, let’s go! The end of the year, the end of the decade is approaching. In only a few days, the world of 2020, a time foretold in many a science-fiction novel, will be upon us. It’s kind of unbelievable to me that the PlayStation 2 came out 20 years ago and that 2009 ended a decade ago. Time moves in the shadows when we forget it’s there. Before you say it, I’m not reviewing a ninja game to work with this metaphor of time that I’ve just made. Instead, I have a game for the New Year’s holiday of parties and joyful celebration. PlayStation Basement #69 - Saiyuki: Journey West

This review was originally published on the  Console Purist  Facebook group on December 21st, 2019. Hello once again, and welcome back to the PlayStation Basement. PlayStation Basement is a weekly review of games for the original PlayStation that are somewhat obscure, unusual, or unknown. Games are rated Good, Bad, or Neutral as a way to emphasize the review over just a number. Now, let’s go! Today is the winter solstice, and many religious holidays are coming up, are underway, or have come and gone. From Diwali, to Kwanzaa, to Hanukkah, Yule, and Christmas, religious festivities abound around this time of year as the days soon begin to get longer in the Northern Hemisphere. I actually have a religious, or perhaps more mythical, game for today – Saiyuki: Journey West . Saiyuki is a game based on one of the Four Great Classical Novels of China, Journey to the West (or Xī Yóu Jì ). In Japan, this story is called Saiyuki . Even if you don’t live in East Asia or South Asia

PlayStation Basement #68 - Silhouette Mirage

PlayStation Basement is a weekly review of games for the original PlayStation that are somewhat obscure, unusual, or unknown. Games are rated Good, Bad, or Neutral to emphasis the review over just a number. Now, let’s go! We are moving closer and closer to all of the winter holidays around the world. I’m sure that Santa Claus is busy making toys for all of the children at the North Pole with his elves. Thinking about those elves, I have a game that makes me think a bit of elves, though the characters in the game are some kind of robotic/digital creatures with elfin demeanors. Today’s game is Silhouette Mirage . I had never heard of this game as a kid. I first came across it when I decided to get all of the games published by Working Designs for the PS1 and PS2. Silhouette Mirage was published under their acti
